Three thousand years behind the beach.

Roman villas under the golf, Moorish walls above the marina and Picasso forty minutes away. The Costa del Sol’s past is part of its everyday scenery.

The heritage

Older than it looks, livelier than it sounds.

Marbella’s Old Town keeps its Moorish plan: walls from the tenth century, the Plaza de los Naranjos from the sixteenth, balconies of geraniums in between.

The Roman villa of Río Verde and the basilica of Vega del Mar sit quietly between golf courses and the beach — this coast has been prime property for two millennia.

Culture today runs from the Museo del Grabado’s Picassos and Mirós to Starlite’s summer nights in the Nagüeles quarry.

And Andalusia’s greats are day trips: Ronda’s gorge, Málaga’s Picasso and Pompidou, the Alhambra two hours east.

«History here is not visited: it is inhabited.»

What we check before recommending a home

01

Protected surroundings
